We are here to help creative and digital talent and companies by supporting their businesses, productions, increasing their international trade opportunities and making key financial investments in their projects.
2009/2010 Northwest Vision and Media Awards
1. Regional Attraction Fund (RAF) - RAF
provides two separate strands of support. The Company
Development strand provides grant support for high-growth
companies looking to develop their infrastructure, to access new
markets and to significantly expand the scope of their
operations.
The Product Development strand provides recoupable
grants for the development of both linear and interactive media
content. This can include broadcast TV, computer games, electronic
publishing, e-learning, mobile content and web-based
applications.
A total of £363,850 has been granted to small and
medium sized companies across the region, including 4
Manchester-based firms.

2. Access to Film and Audience Development Fund (HAFAD) - The annual Heritage, Access to Film and Audience Development (HAFAD) fund was set up in 2005 to support a variety of film-related activities across the Northwest.
This year, twelve awards have been granted and the fund has taken a new approach by offering two of these to consortiums, enabling groups of organisations to work together to deliver a range of initiatives.

3. The Digital Film Archive Fund (DFAF) - is a UK Film Council lottery fund managed by regional screen agency Northwest Vision and Media.
This year we awarded a second round of over £130,000 to organisations in the region in a bid to increase public access to regional screen heritage.

4. Production Investment for Film and TV - This
fund is for investment in key projects being filmed in the region,
including film and long-running drama/ multiple episode television
series. Priority will be given to indigenous production
companies.
The fund offers assistance to companies with the production costs
of feature films, and major broadcast projects which have
substantive partnership funding, a clear route to market through
the involvement of distributor and/or sales agent and the potential
to generate significant value both for the applicant company and
the regional production sector.

5. Digital and Media Skills Programme - Is a £2.8 million digital and skills programme being delivered by Northwest Vision and Media in partnership with Skillset and supported by Northwest Regional Development Agency.
This year we have recently awarded £300,000 worth of tenders as part of an ongoing skills programme.

6. Northwest Regional Development Fund - Over £2.7 million of funding from the Northwest European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme has been approved for Northwest Vision and Media, following over £3m announced by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) in April.
This will help to support our recently expanded role as a cluster organisation for the creative and digital sector in the region and deliver a programme of activity for their industries to 2012.

7. Merseyside Film and Television Fund - Investments ranging from £15,000 to £100,000 was made for up to 37.8% of a project's agreed development costs.
Examples:
Funding for a Liverpool-based
company to shoot a taster tape for a new factual TV show, funded
62.8% by a broadcaster and 37.8% by the MFTVF.

Green shoots
2009 - A scheme to support up to 6 northwest
film projects with an award of £2,500.
Digital Shorts
- Short filmmaking scheme.
MEDIABOX - funds
media projects that use print, television, film, radio, digital, or
online media projects for young people.
SKILLS SCHEMES
Media
Freelance Fund - will subsidise training,
courses and workshops by 70% up to the value of £1000
Bespoke Company
Fund - offers initiatives for managers and
leaders, as well as company employees.
i.studio 2009 - a placement-based training and
development scheme for the region’s new digital talent.
Plug In
Placement - provides paid, on-the-job training to the
production industry’s next generation.
